Cervical Smear Tests

These are carried out routinely by a practice nurse. It is recommended that all women between the ages of 25 – 49 have a smear test every three years, with five yearly tests after that.

You will normally be advised by letter from the Health Authority when a smear is due. When telephoning the surgery for an appointment, please remember to tell the receptionist that it is specifically for a smear test.

We can advise on all forms of regular and emergency contraception at the surgery and offer contraceptive injections, implants and coil fitting. Drs Maryam Husain, Moira Sutcliffe and Katrina Whalley are able to fit coils. Drs Husain and Whalley, and Sister Roni Wood are also able to insert contraceptive implants. Please ask a member of the reception team for an appointment to discuss your contraceptive needs.

We are one of a number of GP surgeries and pharmacies across Bristol to offer free, confidential and non-judgemental sexual health advice, free condoms and STI testing to anyone under the age of 25. You do not have to be one of our registered patients to be seen as part of this service and we will see everyone regardless of background or sexuality.
